Modeling Wax - Research and Mimicry

March 2015

Using my groups primary material, Wax, we tried to experiment with its properties, and eventually tried modeling with wax, with aggregation in mind. From this, however, I took forward the idea of Erosion as a form finding principle in architecture. Modeling Wax as past of Case Study using algorithm in Processing, Loopsnake and Grasshopper. Using parametric means and constructing an abstract investigation of erosion taking place on a cube, eating outside in. The script is automated, and works by point distribution, which is used to create a randomized shape upon which subtracts the starting geometry. Loop snake then constructs this loop, so the output subtracted form is recognized as the input geometry for point distribution. The script is designed in grasshopper, and the render is done with 3ds Max, surface scattering.
